Spartathlon 2022<\/p>\n

40 years have passed since the first spartathlon took place. A quick introduction for those who don’t know, the Spartathlon is a 246km ultra-marathon that starts in Athens and finishes in Sparta. <\/p>\n

Our experience as physiotherapists was incredible and despite the fatigue and working through the night I am sure that everyone who took part and supported the athletes would do it again without a second thought!
\nWhat were we doing there?
\nWhatever was needed! Whatever was needed! We shouted, we encouraged, we cheered, we applauded.
\nWe massaged muscles that refused to relax, continued to contract even though the athlete wanted to rest for 5 minutes, did stretches, mobilized joints that after some kilometers did not bend, cried with those who did not make it to the finish line but full of pride that they managed to reach so far. <\/p>\n

The first runner finished in 21 hours (wow) and the rest within the next 35+ (unbelievable to run that many hours).<\/p>\n
